Martin Ødegaard reacts to Rodri’s callous tackle.
Arsenal and Norway’s midfielder Martin Odegaard was left seething after a horror tackle from Spain’s Rodri during their encounter on Saturday night.
The midfielder flew into the Gunners’ talisman in the penalty area, catching him heavily on the ankle, leaving Odegaard visibly upset. The Norwegian international was surprised when French referee Benoit Bastien did not award a penalty for the challenge.
Following the match, which saw Spain cruise to a 3-0 victory, Odegaard spoke to TV2 about the incident, saying: “I’m pretty sure I should have had a penalty. He’s coming with his studs right on my ankle. But I’m sure I’ll get punished [if I say anymore]. I don’t bother saying anything else about the referee. It’s better not to say anything.”
The Norwegian international will now be focused on the team’s next Euro qualifications game against Georgia on the 28th of March.
