Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has revealed the reason behind his celebration during England’s win over Wales.

Marcus Rashford has revealed that his celebration after his goal for England against Wales was for his late friend, who died of cancer some days ago.

Rashford started alongside Harry Kane and Phil Foden across the frontline against Wales and scored a brace to help England finish as the winners of Group B with a 3-0 win over Wales.

The Manchester United forward had started England’s opening two group stage games against Iran and the USA and made his presence felt.

Rashford broke the deadlock with a superb free-kick to become the first player to score from a free-kick setpiece in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

After his goal, he raised both hands to the sky as his team-mates joined him in celebrating England’s opener.

Speaking about his celebration, the 25-year-old said: “I lost one of my friends a couple of days ago. He had quite a long battle with cancer. I’m pleased I scored for him, he was a big supporter and good friend of mine. He was someone who came into my life.”
